CO2 Laser in Norwich
Ablative & Non-Ablative CO2 Laser in Norwich
Co2 (carbon dioxide) Laser Resurfacing in Norwich.
Not all lasers are created equal.
This is one of the most powerful skin treatments available—if it’s used properly. Whether you're here to rewind wrinkles, smooth texture, or just avoid surgery for a few more years, this page will tell you exactly what to expect from real, medically-engineered fractional CO₂ laser treatments.
WHAT IS A CO2 LASER?
CO₂ laser is widely regarded as the gold standard for skin rejuvenation and resurfacing. It works by delivering focused beams of energy to the skin in a grid-like pattern, targeting both surface-level imperfections and deeper structural concerns. This controlled thermal injury stimulates collagen production, tightens skin, and accelerates cellular renewal—leading to dramatically smoother, firmer, and more even skin.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
CO₂ lasers target water in the skin, vaporising microscopic columns of tissue. This controlled ablation triggers a wound-healing response, prompting your body to rebuild the skin with stronger, healthier collagen. The surrounding tissue is left intact, which speeds up healing and reduces risk.
Depending on how the laser is used—its energy, pulse duration, depth, and density—it can:
- Smooth fine lines and wrinkles
- Improve skin laxity
- Reduce pore size and texture
- Treat pigmentation and sun damage
- Tighten crepey areas (especially around the eyes)

There are two types of CO₂ laser treatments that are possible, each with very different goals and downtime.
Here’s how they compare:
WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ABLATIVE AND NON-ABLATIVE CO₂?
Ablative treatments physically remove micro-columns of skin. This triggers a strong healing response, resulting in deeper collagen remodelling and resurfacing of the outer skin. You’ll see peeling, downtime, and dramatic results.
Non-ablative treatments heat the skin without breaking the surface. There’s little or no peeling, less redness, and faster recovery—but the changes happen more gradually, beneath the skin.
Think of it like:
- Ablative = Complete renovation (pulling up the floorboards)
- Non-Ablative = Reinforcement (strengthening the structure underneath)

WHY I PATCH TEST FIRST
(Even When Other Clinics Don't):
Because this is a true medical-grade laser treatment—not a beauty facial—I always perform a quick patch test before we begin. That might seem unusual, especially if you’ve been to other clinics that don’t bother. But here’s why I do it:
Everyone’s skin responds differently. Even the most resilient skin can react unpredictably to high-energy treatments.
I want your results to be flawless—not risky. This isn’t about fear. It’s about being clinical, controlled, and exact.
It only takes 30 minutes. While your patch test settles, I use that time to complete your consultation, prep my work area and laser and numb you up.
Most clinics skip this—because it’s faster. But that’s exactly why you hear stories of prolonged redness, pigmentation, or scarring. I won’t take that chance with your face.
If your skin reacts perfectly (which most do), we continue. If anything looks off, we reschedule—because no treatment is worth the risk of damaging your skin long-term.
Safety is the foundation of results. That’s why I do things properly.

My Personal Treatment Protocol (And Why I Believe in It)
I’m 43, and yes—I have CO₂ laser treatments myself. Not because I want “perfect” skin, but because I believe in preserving what I have for as long as I can.
Once a year, I have a fully ablative CO₂ laser treatment (which I do myself). Think of it as a complete skin reset. It clears out dull, tired surface skin and kickstarts collagen production in the deeper layers. Once a year is plenty—I don’t think you need more than that when it’s done right.
About 4–6 weeks later, I follow it with a deep collagen remodelling session (my CO₂ Rejuvenation treatment). This is non-ablative, so there’s little downtime—but it stimulates long-term collagen production deep in the dermis, reinforcing the results of the first session structurally. I usually do 2 to 3 of these per year, spaced out depending on how my skin feels.
And I’ll be honest with you—I absolutely plan to have a facelift in the future. I’m not ashamed of that. But I want to delay it for as long as possible. And the way to do that is simple: create as much collagen as you can while your skin is still capable of making it.
For anyone who knows a facelift isn’t going to be their path, these treatments are even more important.
Fillers like Sculptra and hyperdilute Radiesse can stimulate collagen too - but unlike injectables, CO₂ laser doesn’t just inflate the skin—it tightens, resurfaces, and actually improves skin structure.
How much collagen are we creating? Enough to hold off a facelift?
Honestly—it’s impossible to quantify exactly. But based on histological studies, well-performed ablative CO₂ treatments can trigger up to 6–12 months of measurable collagen regeneration, and that’s more than most injectables can claim.
So this is why I do it. It’s subtle, it's natural, it’s structural, and it works.
And it’s exactly what I recommend for my clients.
If it's not good enough for me, then it's not good enough for you.
STILL GOT QUESTIONS?
Does it hurt?
Yes—but it’s numbed and fast. It’s heat and trauma to the skin, but totally manageable. I do it to myself, and I still love it and the results are second to none.
Can I go out after?
Not after full ablation. Expect 7–10 days of downtime. But for non-ablative rejuvenation, most people are fine within 2-3 days. I’ll advise you based on the treatment we choose.
How many sessions will I need?
That depends. Full ablation is usually once per year. Rejuvenation; 3 sessions spaced out. I’ll build a plan around your skin—not a template.
Can I wear makeup after?
No makeup for a minimum of 5–7 days post-ablation. After that, we reintroduce things slowly. It’s not forever—it’s just smart.
Will people know I’ve had something done?
They might—but only in the best way. This isn’t about looking fake. It’s about looking healthier, fresher, tighter. And yes, you’ll still look like you.
How long does it take?
The treatment itself takes about 30–45 minutes, depending on the area. Add numbing and consultation time, and you're with me for around 60-90 minutes total. No rushing—just precision.
How long do the results last?
Once collagen is stimulated, it doesn’t suddenly vanish. Full ablation results can last well over a year—and in many cases, even longer—because you’ve physically regenerated new skin and collagen. Rejuvenation treatments build more gradually over 2–3 sessions, and that collagen stays too. But like anything in ageing, results are best maintained with ongoing skincare and the occasional top-up.
Is this the same as what doctors offer?
Some doctors offer full-field CO₂ laser—which removes 100% of the skin surface which is done under sedation, with oozing skin, bandages, antibiotics, and weeks of downtime. It’s surgical-level. Expensive, aggressive, and usually only necessary if the skin is severely damaged.
What I offer is maximum fractional resurfacing—pushing your skin safely to the edge of what's possible in a non-surgical setting. You still get very dramatic results: tighter skin, improved texture, visible resurfacing. But with less trauma, less downtime, and a far more refined recovery.
